It’s crazy how things fall together!

Five years ago Stacey and I crashed at a friend-of-a-friend’s house in St. Louis on our way to introduce Stacey to my family. That friendly acquaintance turned out to be Abi, whose gorgeous wedding we had the privilege of shooting yesterday at the Tutwiler Hotel and Birmingham Botanical Gardens!

Typical of the awesome weather we have here in Alabama, a thunderstorm reared its ugly head, and forced a change of plans. Abi and Casey were ever the happy couple though, and exchanged their country-chic garden wedding for an intimate indoor ceremony in front of close friends and family.

Abi is definitely the queen of DYI wedding details, from the mason jars for drinking lemonade and sweet tea, to the “wedding wands” that guests waved as the happy couple headed off for the evening, every aspect of Saturday’s wedding had a gorgeous personal touch!

We were also excited to have the talented Laine Williams along to shoot with us, and hopefully we didn’t scare her too much with our crazy wedding day antics!

Here’s a quick few of our favorites from the day, and thank you to Abi and Casey for having us along!

Some prep shots from the Tutwiler …

Casey going to work with the iron on the groomsmen’s shirts …

Abi was glowing from the moment we first saw here … I think she was a little excited to head down and meet Casey!

Some shots on the way down to their first meeting …

Absolutely LOVE Abi’s expression when Casey saw her!

So we originally planned to take advantage of the Botanical Gardens for most of our portraits … but some scary-looking storm clouds overhead convinced us to do a little shooting downtown. I’m so excited with how these turned out!

…. glowing!!!

Abi and Casey’s color palette for the big day was amazing! It had such an elegant, comfortable feeling. I wish I could tie a bow tie like Casey can …

Bridesmaid dresses and clutches by J. Crew …

Did we mention AMAZING colors?

After the skies opened up, it was back inside for a few more classy portraits …. I LOVE these black and white shots!

And some last-minute extra details before the ceremony at the Gardens …

The floral arrangements and food were a Kathy G specialty, and were stunning to say the least!

Love the mason jars!

Stacey’s favorite … she’s a wheat-grass fan …

Abi and Casey chose some classic songs for their dances, including “Stars Fell On Alabama” for their first …. so beautiful!

Abi hand-selected her china for the day, and it really added to an already-stunning color palette!

Great expressions :-)

So I was introduced to weddings wands for the first time at this wedding, and thought they made an excellent topper to a day full of great details!

A ¬†little bouquet tossing ….

They brought in a gorgeous classic car, with a matching baby-blue color scheme!

LOVE this moment!

Thank you again to Abi and Casey for having us along, your day was absolutely perfect, and we felt so honored to be part of it!!!
