Every wedding that Stacey and I shoot comes with its own share of challenges. Yesterday’s wedding at Mountain Brook Community Church was far from the exception! Powerful storms the night before Lindsey and Andrew’s day left a bunch of buildings in Birmingham, including MBCC, in the dark!

Thankfully, the power decided to go out on one of the most laid back couples we’ve ever hung out with on their wedding day. Andrew and Lindsey took it all in stride, didn’t stop smiling, and wound up with one of the most gorgeous, intimate ceremonies that Stacey and I have ever been a part of!

So what do you do when you’re forced to have a wedding ceremony in a nearly pitch-black sanctuary? Find EVERY candle in a 10-mile radius of the church of course! As Stacey and I shot pictures with our couple and their family, the awesome folks at MBCC mustered up every candle they could find, and created a gorgeous, electricity-free ceremony site!

So without further delay, here is our first-ever electricity-free wedding prep and ceremony (save about 32 AA batteries in our flashes! :-)

Lindsey had her hair and makeup done at the Paul Mitchell Salon in Hoover …

Details by emergency light … :-)

Andrew and Lindsey’s first meeting was full of emotion …

Had do get at least one in the powerless church right?

Lindsey waiting to go into the ceremony …

Marriage by candlelight …

I love Andrew’s reaction to seeing Lindsey come down the aisle …

Funny story …. power decided to come back on during the ceremony, lights came up as they were leaving the sanctuary … love their reactions!

On to the fully-powered reception at Park Lane in Mountain Brook!

We snuck out for a few more picture around Crestline Village in Mountain Brook …

Let the party begin!

Mixed pairs … sort of …

Interpretive dancing ensued …

And the last dance of the night …
