It seems like forever ago that David approached me about possibly shooting his and Melissa’s big day! At the same time, Saturday came and went in a flash, marking the end of our 2010 season and going into the record books as one of our most enjoyable weddings to date.

Melissa and David are two of the nicest people you’ll ever meet, and we thoroughly enjoyed joining them on their journey to the big day! From the engagement session to multiple nights out for sushi, when their wedding day finally arrived, it felt like we’d been friends for years! Melissa was the definition of elegance in her gorgeous gown from Kleinfeld Manhattan, and David’s comfortable smile made every picture feel natural and relaxed.

Going into Saturday, Stacey and I were preparing for a little bit of a challenge for our portrait session. The ceremony took place at Bluff Park United Methodist Church, which is gorgeous on the inside, but sadly doesn’t have a ton of places to shoot on the outside. All of our fears were gone in seconds, however, when we pulled up to Melissa’s parents’ gorgeous historical home in Bluff Park! Needless to say, we brought the bridal party together at the house, and got some awesome shots on the property before heading to the church!

David and Melissa surrounded themselves with an all-star cast of vendors, many of who we believe are the best in Birmingham at what they do. Vince and all the folks at Flower Stems did a stunning job an the floral arrangements, and the oh-so-fun group at B&A Warehouse hosted the gorgeous reception and catered some delicious food! To top it off, Melissa and David brought in one of our favorite bands from this year … the gifted folks of Nationwide Coverage!

All-in-all, our last wedding of 2010 turned out to be one of our absolute favorites. David and Melissa made our job a breeze by being up for as many portraits as we could ask for, their bridal party was willing to brave some frigid temperatures for outdoor pictures, and the amazing lineup of vendors gave us more than enough gorgeousness to document!

To David and Melissa, we’re so grateful to know you guys as clients and friends. Thank you for inviting us to be part of your amazing wedding day, and for encouraging and supporting us to do what we do best. :-) As you guys jet across the pond to London and Paris for a Christmas honeymoon, enjoy just a “few” of the images we came away with from your day!

  6. mariana beautiful! what a pretty way to close the year Brandon. Random love: I loved the CAR, the chocolates, the oh-so-elegant cake, the colors of the party, the light in the couple's portraits (pre and post ceremony), that last shot (HOT!), and how you prove every time that digital can be beautiful when used with skills, knowledge and a good eye. Actually, let me rephrase: you prove every time that the person clicking the shutter actually makes a difference. Congrats on this work!
